new health care system?
The
Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act includes many complex provisions
which will ultimately impact every American citizen,
employer and business over the coming years.
To
help business executives and other interested
professionals better understand the complexities involved in the new health
care system, the Biddeford Saco Chamber of Commerce
& Industry will be hosting a workshop entitled
"Health Care Reform: A Reality in
2010" on September 21st
at the Saco Transportation Center from
5:30 to 6:30.
Discussion
topics will include:

overview of key parts of the Act and timeline
for implementation

taxes and penalties

Heart of Biddeford again invites children, adults,
families and artists of all skill levels to attend the season’s
largest community event, Chalk on the Walk 2010. Hosted in the
heart of Downtown Biddeford on Saturday, September 25 from 11am –
4pm (Registration begins at 9:30am), Chalk on the Walk 2010 is free
and open to the public. In addition to an opportunity to
discover the art of street chalking while soaking in colorful
masterpieces from a diversity of local artists, attendees will enjoy
live music, pony rides, street performances, bouncy house, aquarium
touch tank, games for kids, juggling action and more. This
artistic theme for 2010 is Feathery, Furry, Slimy & Scaly.

Chalk on the Walk 2010 attendees will also enjoy live
musical performances by the Pete Kilpatrick Band, Kathy Byers and
Lydia Adams Davis (music for the kid in all of us + animal puppets!)
and select students from the Maine Academy of Modern Music in
addition to other TBA musical acts.
Facilitated by the federally recognized non-profit
organization Touch Tanks For Kids, children and adults of all
ages will have the opportunity to experience hands-on learning about
the world of marine sciences. Guests of Chalk on the Walk 2010
will also be entertained by a mix of activities including pony rides,
street performances, fire juggling, giant bubbles, bouncy house and
more.
Chalk in the Walk 2010 is made possible due to the
generous support of Biddeford Savings Bank, Oakpoint Associates, Saco
Biddeford Savings, Bangor Savings Bank, and Smith Elliott Smith &
Garmey. Media partners include The Journal Tribune, WMPG (90.9
FM), WPXT (CW Channel) and Maine’s Coast (93.1 FM).
Artist Registration for chalk drawing begins in
the Heart of Biddeford office at 205 Main St. at 9:30am and the fee is
$5 for kids and $10 for adults. Scholarships are available upon
request. Businesses or individuals interested in sponsoring a
square for $100 will be supporting the Heart of Biddeford’s mission
of improving the quality of retail and cultural life in the downtown
