Southern Maine Medical Center

The SMMC is a 150-bed, full-service, not-for-profit acute care hospital providing medical, surgical, obstetric, pediatric and mental health services to the full-time residents of northern York County and the many seasonal and part-year residents of the region. Home health care services are provided to the community by SMMC affiliate Southern Maine Health & Homecare Services.

The Biddeford Free Clinic is staffed completely by volunteers and available to those who cannot afford health insurance.

The University Health Care (University of New England) offers four centers with individual specialties. The Biddeford site has a family practice residency program; a second facility features an osteopathic manipulative medicine program. The Saco site specializes in family practice and internal medicine. Other sites are located in Portland and South Portland.

Southern Maine Health & Homecare and Visiting Nurse Services offers mental health counseling, day care centers, personal care attendants, enterostomal therapy and hospice services.
